The Problem We're Countering
A handful of corporations are shaping the public understanding of AI as a metered service: pay per token or by subscription, with vague pricing foundations. Censored and filtered so users have to accept whatever "guardrails" they impose. Some even keep their models closed-source, their training data secret. Model offerings or parameters may be altered or shut down at any point in time. Every price hike, every deprecation, every policy change is a reminder that you don't own your AI and data — they do.
Our Answer
Soulbits is built on the opposite premise. Our core technology — Soulbits Engine, the Soulvoice Engine, the companion app, the plugins — they're open-source and may run entirely on your own hardware, without any limitations aside from the model's capabilities. No subscriptions required. No telemetry. No kill-switch. We publish our source code for anyone to audit, modify, or build upon.
Cloud as a Convenience, not a Requirement.
Our cloud services exist for users who want convenience or cannot afford the hardware to run AI locally. They are a complement to our open technology, not a replacement for it. Everything you can do in the cloud, you can also do on your own machine — for free. We will never use cloud lock-in to force you to pay.

The plugin system is open; everyone can create plugins using the middleware protocol, or even extend it. If you can connect it, your companion can live there.
